Dear Mr. McKee I was out of town the past few days and just got into the office and wanted to get back to you right away. I'd like to apologize for the way you feel you were treated when you were in the dealership a week ago Saturday. I know you had originally dealt with Don, then Courtney and then we had a chance to speak. When we were talking about the truck you were interested in, I had no idea that another deal had already been done on the truck at the same time. A customer was in earlier in the week looking at the same truck and phoned in and put a deposit on it while I was showing it to you. On Monday morning when I was going through the many deals we sell everyday I saw what had transpired and asked Don to follow up with you, and see if we could locate another unit for you from the selection we have in The Davis Auto Group. It is true that we do not sell any vehicles that have not gone through our service department, and we fully disclose any issues that are found with our clients, and they can make a decision if the vehicle in question suits their needs and their budget. Our company policy is full transparency with all our vehicles. I showed you the CarProof on the trucks you were interested in and we discussed them in detail. It's not illegal to sell a vehicle prior to a safety inspection, and many customers do put deposits down on vehicles that are fresh trades because they know we have a good reputation and offer good automotive value for ones hard earned dollars. Mr. McKee, you were not a back up buyer, we do not do business that way here at the dealership. Had I known that there was any other customer on the truck I would have told you. I apologize if you feel you were mislead. I have done many deals in the past on a hand shake, and being upfront and honest with our customers is what I instill in my sales team. If you'd like me to look through our Davis Auto Group Inventory to see if I can find something comparable, please let me know. I look forward to hearing from you. Rick, I appreciate your reply to my review. However, to say you are sorry for the way "I feel" I was treated is not an apology. Basically, you are telling me that your dealership has provided satisfactory sales service and that it's really my personal issue, not yours. An apology is when you say "we blew it", "please forgive us", and "we'd like to somehow make things right". This is how you restore good customer relations. Instead you have conveyed you are not accountable in this situation. I don't really care what happened elsewhere while we were discussing the sale options. That isn't my responsibilty. You should really have safeguards in place to prevent this from happening. The bottom line is that I was mislead--purposely or not--into thinking we had a deal. I should've been contacted that same day with an apology. Instead, it seems the left hand isn't aware of what the right hand is doing. When I shared this situation with friends who are business professionals, they were sympathetic to me and then scoffed at your sales practices and disorganization. Some said you looked rather suspect of taking advantage of buyer trust. Now, what exacerbates my frustration further is how in your reply you said Don was asked to call me to inform me that the Avalanche was sold. Yet, when I called (Monday just before noon I still hadn't heard from him) he had no idea about the vehicle I was refering to and had to find out about its status before calling me back. He was confused and apparently was not appraised of this situation by you or anyone else. Rick, I would like to get a truck from a local dealership, but I cannot trust Davis and will continue to look elsewhere. Regretfully, R.McKee
