I usually receive a service reminder in the mail from the dealership so I make it a practice once the reminder is received that I bring my vehicle in to Coquitlam Chrysler to change the motor oil. I dropped off the vehicle at the express lane, presented the keys to the service counter and the joined my wife at the grocery store for shopping. As usual, I was waiting to receive a call from Coquitlam Chrysler to advise when the vehicle would be ready for pick up. On this occasion, I was awfully surprised when I received a call from the service desk. They did advise me that the vehicle was ready but also advised me that I was missing my power steering cap and they had ordered replacement cap that would cost me $26 plus tax. I questioned how the power steering cap could be missing and insisted that they look around the shop in case it was missed placed when the fluid levels were being checked. I quickly made my way over to the service department to try and determine how the cap was missing. I arrived at the front counter and asked the front counter person how could the cap be missing? I stated that I check under the hood occasionally when I clean my vehicle as I usually clear any leaves or debris that are trapped under the hood near the windshield. I would have noticed that the cap was missing. I also stated that my last service was completed at Coquitlam Chrysler without any cause for concern. In fact, at the last oil change, the service team even replaced a burnt brake light bulb during the oil change and maintenance check which I found to be very convenient. This time, I had a fog lamp bulb that was burned out and thought they would do the same and replace it during the check. I wanted to have it replaced but I was so disappointed and preoccupied with the missing power steering fluid cap that I forgot to follow up with having them replace the burnt bulb. I spoke to a gentlemen at the front counter about the missing power fluid cap and he said that he would ask the service crew to look again to see if it was misplaced or left possibly lying in and around the shop while the fluid levels were being checked but unfortunately it wasn’t found. I was upset at this point but the front counter tech assured me that a replacement part was ordered and it would arrive on Tuesday. I was also advised to bring the vehicle back and they would replace it at my cost. I questioned why it should be at my cost and asked to speak to the service manager but was advised that he was away from the office and would not return until Monday. At this point I was certainly concerned about why I should incur the cost of replacing the power steering cap but more importantly I was extremely concerned about the safety risk operating the vehicle without a cap or cover of some sort. I thought that the fluid would spill out without a cap. I was assured several times from the front counter person that there would not be any safety concerns driving the vehicle without a power steering cap. I questioned and raised my concerns that the power steering fluid could spill out during driving, especially if I were to brake hard, make a sudden quick turn or even by hitting a pothole. Would you not have concerns if the power steering fluid spilt out onto the hot exhaust manifold while driving? Could this not happen? Would there not be a reason for concern of possibly causing a fire? The service counter person discounted this theory and assured me that it was safe to drive until the replacement part arrived. At this point, the front counter person asked me for my truck keys and I followed him out to my truck where we met with the service technician who had serviced my vehicle. They released and opened the hood as they wanted to check to see if the power steering cap had perchance fallen in the engine compartment while servicing. Unfortunately it wasn’t there either. I again raised my safety concerns to the service team about the risk of driving my truck without a power steering cap and both gentlemen assured me that it would not be a problem. In our discussions, I was offered the power steering cap at cost by the service team but I reiterated my concern about the safety risks. I even asked if a similar cap could be temporarily taken off another vehicle on the lot but I was told that this could not happen. I said that I was not happy and that I would be raising my concerns to the service manager as I wasn’t satisfied with the service I received nor with the explanation of the safety risks I raised. From what was supposed to be a quick oil change ended up causing me grief and certainly inconveniences. I had left my wife to continue with the rest of the grocery shopping. Thinking that I would return quickly to pick up the truck, she paid for the groceries and was actually waiting outside. On this particular day, the weather was extremely cold and temperatures below zero. She was in the parking lot with a cart full of groceries waiting for me to return. This was supposed to be a quick service as suggested by the name “express oil change”. This was definitely not an express service on this day. I drove the vehicle home and out of an abundance of caution, I decided not to drive the vehicle until the replacement part arrived. I was concerned about the fire risk and the risk of causing damage to my vehicle. I was upset that I had to take time out of my Sunday to write down and articulate my concerns and provide an explanation of what occurred rather than having my concerns resolved that day. Now I was also required to make arrangements to come back to the dealership on Tuesday to pick up the part when it arrived. The part arrived and I did receive a call from the service manager who apologized for the unfortunate service I received and was quite helpful and sympathetic to my concerns. My wife drove our vehicle to the dealership on the Tuesday to have the new power steering cap installed. She arrived and they asked that she provide the keys so they could bring it into the bay and so they could top of the fluid and install the cap. She was puzzled that the vehicle had to be brought in the bay considering we were told that the fluid would not escape without cap….. In any event, she agreed and the vehicle was brought in for servicing. Unfortunately when they brought the vehicle in the bay, the truck tire was damaged. When driving it in, the truck tire was snagged against the hoist........ They put on a temporary tire and sent my wife on her way until a similar tire could be found. The service manager again called me and assured me that he would find an exact tire that would match the other three. In all fairness, Scott Polegato the service manager was great to deal with and other than the stress and inconveniences we experienced he came through and assisted me with the concerns that had occurred. I am not sure I am confident that I would return to service my vehicle at Coquitlam Chrysler after the terrible service I experienced. More

First they said there's nothing wrong and then the basket needs to be changed... Smoke continues to emit from the inside and out. Then they said it's the thermostat, needs to be changed, although it was changed recently by Kaltire. I was wondering if they're really checking the can and running a diagnostics to find out what's wrong, or they're just guessing:( More

I had been pondering the purchase of new tires but after researching the technical details of some products on-line I became somewhat overwhelmed. What was best for my driving needs? I spoke at length with Kelly Fournier about tires. He patiently explained the options and pros and cons of various tires. We settled on a Michelin product; I had them installed yesterday and happily drove away. More
