You purchased a vehicle from us that was our previous service shuttle with approximately 211,000km on it. We did a complete MTO safety inspection on the vehicle and provided you with a copy of all the required work that would be completed as part of that safety inspection prior to delivery. You requested that we look for a slight noise in the front end. During the safety work nothing was out of the ordinary nor any issue that failed any Safety Standards were found. The other service work like lubricating the seat tracks, checking all the functionality of the seat belts and replacing the missing rear trim piece on the rear seats was completed as you requested. This was explained to you in person on the pickup day. As well we provided you with a copy of all the completed work we did on your Van. You emailed us approximately a week after delivery inquiring about the noise coming from the front end, saying it had returned. This would require a more in-depth look to see if we can locate the exact cause of this noise. To help your schedule, we offered 2 separate times, a week apart - that my service department would be happy to have a look at this for you. You did not take us up on the offer. You requested some trim pieces to be changed afterwards which we supplied to you. Within your first month of ownership the check engine light came on. Our service department spent several hours diagnosing the issue. We found it to be a blown fuse, then got you back on the road as soon as possible as you live outside of our shuttle service area, and we do not offer loaner vehicles. All this work was completed at zero cost to you. You decided to take the van elsewhere 3 days later at your own expense, instead of at no charge from us. The other shop only found 2 “concerns” that were by no means are safety issues. The other dealer even tried to up-sell services that were not necessary based off all the work we had done 3 weeks earlier. We reiterated this to you, and then even offered to buy the van back at the sale price including tax, which you initially were going to accept, but after some consideration on your end you ultimately declined. It appears to us that you understand how great the van was for the value you paid. After this you retroactively asked for more services to the van. None of them are safety related, nor were they part of the paperwork provided at time of purchase. Not until almost a month later was this brought up, and your expectation was for us to cover all these expenses. Regardless, your attempts to bad mouth your transaction and our staff on blogs and chat rooms even going to the extent of having plans to make a website and YouTube video detailing your experience. This showed little response in your favor as nearly every reply in your blog post stated the van was in great shape and they did not see any concern. Clarington Toyota will always act in good faith, to the letter of the law, with honesty and integrity. Throughout the 20 plus emails between you and our team, we have acted as such and will continue to do so to all customers.
