Last August, I had an issue with my 2011 4 Runner. Thought at first, transmission. Diagnostic was performed codePO303, #3 cylinder coil. Coil was fried due to oil in the spark plug tube.extra time was required due to part of coil stayed on plug. #3 coil replaced and all plugs. One year later, same issue. Decided to replace all the remaining 5 coils myself. Lo and behold #3 coil soaked in oil including another on the other bank. Upon further research found that the only way oil enters the spark plug tube is thru the tube seals, which requires the valve covers to be removed and seals replaced. This apparently is a common problem with age/mileage. I feel Castlegar Toyota absolutely knew how oil got in tube and failed to disclose this info subsequently expecting me to-return to have this repair done a second time. It was stated that “Oil bypassing spark plug itself”. So tell me how does so much oil go upwards from the combustion chamber? Deceitful and misleading. I will not return. More
Ecp is a rip off/horrible customer service Purchased a new vehicle. Ended up it was not the right one for me. I had to trade it in after a year. I purchased the extended warranty (ECP) and want Purchased a new vehicle. Ended up it was not the right one for me. I had to trade it in after a year. I purchased the extended warranty (ECP) and wanted to know if I could cancel it as you can with every other extended warranty with other vehicle types. Well I couldn't get a straight Answer from anyone at Castlegar Toyota. The owner promised to call me back and never did-way to go, worst service and from the owner no less! Ended up contacting a Toyota down on the coast who answered all my questions happily (and no, ECP can not be canceled-you basically end up forfeiting almost 2000 to Toyota) What a joke! Buyer beware. I completely regret bringing my vehicle to these xxx hats Terrible experience. I chose to bring my 4Runner to Castlegar Toyota to have my gas tank replaced. It should have been a two hour job. They called me, Terrible experience. I chose to bring my 4Runner to Castlegar Toyota to have my gas tank replaced. It should have been a two hour job. They called me, FOUR DAYS after I'd brought it in to have the job done, and told me that all 3 of my fuel lines were broken and that it was going to cost me $1400 to have them fix it. So I rush over there to check it out for myself. I get under the car. The lines are totally dry, from top to bottom. However, gasoline is POURING out of the frame. Clearly, the mechanic screwed up. He was whining the whole time I was there, insisting it was my car's fault, not his. Although, he admitted, he had NO idea what the xxxx was wrong with it. Well, in fact it was his fault. Upon inspection afterwards, I found he did not bother to replace the gasket, completely botching the job, and he broke the fuel gauge to boot. I told them I was taking it home. I went to pay at the counter, and they had the audacity to try and charge me an extra $300. Both the manager and the customer service rep are just actors who will try to schmooze you over and steal your money. Going to that dealership was a Very aggravating, worthless, expensive mistake. And now I am doing the job myself anyways and buying new parts to replace the ones the mechanic broke. More

After the first year the front dif developed a very bad rumble strip sound when driving at highway speeds. After a few visits and taking mechanics for drives they agreed to replace the part. ( oh wait it was a technical service bulletin anyways that should have been done). After the replacement needle bearing was installed I was told it was good to go. Immediately after turning out onto the main road I could hear the sound again. This time much louder and at a lower speed of 50 km/h. I went right back in to the service counter where they told me to drive it for 2 weeks and it will "get better" ....right, cause metal on metal gets better, once all the material has ground away! I went back In after 2 weeks only to have the service lady tell me to leave my number and she would get back to me in a few days. I am posting this review to share my terrible experience with Toyota, more so the Kalawsky family. They own a few dealerships in town so just keep driving people. Go to Trail or Nelson or somewhere else far away. This is still on going so save yourself time and money and go elsewhere. More
Why don't you just buy a new car? At first I told them I thought it may be my sway bar bushings, and was told that it was not. After dealership failed to fix a knocking on the front At first I told them I thought it may be my sway bar bushings, and was told that it was not. After dealership failed to fix a knocking on the front end, despite four repairs that totalled over $2000 for the same problem, I finally bought a used Toyota Service Manual from Ebay. I then easily diagnosed, ordered the parts and fitted them myself. 2 front bushings cost $32 and took me 1.5 hours to replace. Been fine for a year now. Either the various mechanics are no good, or more likely, they want to hose you. I was told each time that the car was past hope, and that I should buy a new Toyota. As a result I will never buy a Toyota again. Nor a GMC/Chev/Buick as Kelowaski owns both dealerships. More
