All's well that end's well My girlfriend and I went into Autotown looking for a new vehicle. We explicitly said that we were just looking and that we just wanted to know what th My girlfriend and I went into Autotown looking for a new vehicle. We explicitly said that we were just looking and that we just wanted to know what the price / payment would look like before making a decision. Susie helped us locate a car that fit what we wanted. Susie was by far the best part of the entire experience and we are very thankful for her help. There was some clear communication problems when it came down to inquiring about financing the vehicle. We had talked to a small dealer previously who found out what our payments would be like before we decided about buying from him. Our expectation was that Autotown would be the same. It was not. We were told that they wouldn't be able to do a finance check unless we put a deposit down. We were extremely hesitant at first, because we figured if we're putting a deposit down, we're locked into the deal. Chris assured us that if the financing didn't work out or if it was out of our budget, we'd get our deposit back. This assurance was the only reason we even gave a deposit. We sat down with Dawn and provided our information. We were in a hurry to leave as we had other appointments to attend to. After about an hour, we had discussed our financial situation and decided it'd be best to wait before buying a new vehicle. She called Dawn back, saying we had changed our mind about buying the car. She was then transferred over to Chris. It all went downhill from there. Chris began giving my girlfriend a hard time about our decision, essentially saying that we should have considered our budget before walking into the store. I was driving at the time, so when we got home, I called and spoke to Chris. My experience with him was very poor. He was very unprofessional and argumentative. I tried to explain the situation from our stand point and he said to me, "You came in, test drove a vehicle and put a deposit down. What part of that didn't say you were buying a car?" I tried to explain to him what our experience so far with buying cars was like - which at this point, was almost non-existent. This was literally the second dealer we ever spoke to about purchasing a vehicle. After pressing for assurance about our deposit, he told me that if our finance was declined, he'd reimburse us for it, otherwise, we'd have to walk (without our money). After a few minutes, he said he didn't want to argue and he'd have the general manager call me back. The next morning, I decided to be pro-active and I called and asked for the general manager. Andres was very professional. He listened to my explanation and understood that our experience was like. He was willing to take a look into it and get back to me. He even educated me on the ways of financing - which was great! I'm very appreciative of his advice and will never forget it. However, when Dawn called Desiree back about our financing, we hadn't been approved for the car we were looking at but we were for a car of lesser value. My girlfriend at that time said we had changed our mind. Dawn gave her a hard time about our decision, but eventually agreed to give our deposit back. I went down there that night and got refunded. Overall, the experience has me turned off about dealerships. After Chris, I decided I would never shop at Autotown ever again. After the whole experience, we've decided to stay away from dealers in general. My rating fluctuated greatly based on each event. Susie would have made me vote 4/5 - only a 4 because at the end, we had absolutely no idea what we had agreed to as no one explained the process to us. After Chris, I'd rate a 2/5. Susie was enough to keep it above 1, but Chris really left a bad taste in my mouth. After Andres, I was thinking of doing a 3/5, but Dawn's conversation with my girlfriend brought it back down to 2/5. They need to remember that ever little thing they do or say can make or break a deal with a customer. I think this was a great learning experience for everyone involved and I hope the employees took away just as much as we did from the experience. My advice to anyone is if you haven't shopped at a dealership before, or don't know what it's like, either go with someone who knows, or don't go at all. You're probably better off buying a beater from someones backyard off of Kijiji. More

It was my first dealership buying experience and what initially led me to Auto Town was the friendliness of the staff. Other dealerships I went to were pushy and aggressive and so Auto Town was a welcome change. There were a few minor repairs that needed to be completed after I purchased the car however, Auto Town quickly took care of these no questions asked. And so over all, I am quite satisfied with my experience and the service that I received. More
